History of Odisha

From the last 2000 years the Glory and History of Odisha has been spanning. According to Puranas, the Prince Kalinga founded the kingdom of Kalinga, which is the current day region of coastal Odisha. In epic Mahabharata also it has been mentioned that, Srutayudha as one of the king of the Kalinga Kingdom, who has joined the Kaurava camp later on. In the Buddhist text also, you can also find the evidence of Mahagovinda Suttanta, Kalinga and its ruler, Sattabhu, which have been mentioned.

About Odisha


Odisha is one of the unique state of India because of its rich in culture, tradition and foods. 
It is located in the East Coast of India, by the Bay of Bengal. The name, Odisha (formerly Orissa), refers to the current state in India. Odisha or Orissa has gone through the several changes with its boundaries along with the ancient ages. The State was also known by different names in different times like Kalinga, South Kosala or Utkala in different eras.
